Photo Contest

CONTEST RULES:

 
 
All photos must be taken on or of the Upper Mississippi River, Driftless Area, or Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuges. Photos not meeting this rule will be disqualified. 

Each entry must be the original work of the person submitting and no computer software filters may be applied to the photo.

Entry photos shall be 8” x 10” and matted to the size of 11” x 14” using either a black or a white mat.

No glass frames allowed.

You are allowed to enter THREE photos per person for EACH category.

Completed entry forms must be attached to the back of each photo.  Each entry must include a title for the photo. 

If entry is a digital photo, provide a 300 dpi at 8” x 10”  on a  CD in addition to the entry photo.

No names on the front of photos.

Scenic Views of the Refuge 

Birds of the Refuge

Wildlife or plants of the Refuge

Connecting People with Nature on the Refuge

Each entry in this category must have a signed Photo Release from each subject in the photo.  Form is on posted on the refuge web site or available at a Refuge Office.

Judging and Exhibition:

Photos will be judged on three criteria: capturing the spirit of the Refuge; technical quality; and intrinsic beauty. 

Winning photos will become part of a year-long traveling exhibit January 1st to December 31st.  Best of Show will be determined by public voting during these exhibits.

TO ENTER:

Labeled entries and signed release form must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. October 31.  Entries may be dropped off at any Refuge office or mailed to:

Awards:

Awards will be given in each category as follows:

1st place: $30.00

2nd place: $20.00

3rd place: $10.00

Best of show: $200.00


Use of Photos:

Friends of the Upper Mississippi River Refuges (FUMRR) and the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife & Fish Refuge have the right to publish the winning photographs for educational, informational, and promotional purposes.
